Questions and answers
The things people ask that do not belong to any single service. Each service page and each guide carries its own questions as well.
If what you need is not here, the fastest route is still the phone. More detail lives on how work gets priced, licensing and insurance and the guides.
General questions
- How soon can you look at a job?
It depends on the season more than on the size of the job. Autumn and winter are when interior work is scheduled on the Cape and the calendar is busiest; a quick look at a problem is usually faster than a slot for a full project. Call (508) 428-2828 and you will get an honest answer about timing rather than an optimistic one.
- Do you do small jobs, or only whole projects?
Both. Repairs and maintenance is a real part of the work and always has been — one of the published reviews is specifically about things getting fixed fast. A small job for an existing client is a different conversation from a small job for someone we have never met, and in the busy months that is worth knowing up front.
- Can you work while we are not on the Cape?
Yes, and for a lot of clients that is the whole point. Access, keys, decisions by phone and photographs at the end of each stage are normal here rather than an accommodation. It works considerably better when it is agreed in advance who can make a decision and up to what amount.
- Do you use subcontractors?
Like every builder of this size, some trades are in-house and some are specialists brought in. What matters to you is who is accountable, and that is a single point of contact on our side rather than a phone number for each trade. One of the published reviews puts it as finding people when he does not have them himself, which is a fair description of how a trade network is supposed to work.
- Will you tell me if a job is not worth doing?
That is the position the business takes about money generally — do not overspend, put it where it holds value. In practice that sometimes means saying a kitchen is fine and the roof is not, or that a basement in a particular house should not be finished at all. It is a better conversation to have before a contract than after one.
- What is on the site that used to be at a different address?
The previous site listed service areas including Boston, the South Shore, Nantucket and Stowe, Vermont, and nine service pages written for a broader company. This site covers Cape Cod, which is where the business is and where it works. Old addresses redirect to the closest equivalent page rather than failing.
- Why is there no live chat or instant quote?
Because a construction quote produced without seeing a house is a number somebody will later have to explain away. The phone gets you to somebody who can actually answer, and there is no charge for the estimate that follows.
- Are the photographs on this site your own work?
Yes. All sixty-two project photographs came from the company's own library. Several images on the old site that appeared to be template stock were deliberately left out of this one rather than presented as projects.
