Most people looking for a construction company in Centerville are not starting from a blank lot. They have a house somewhere between thirty and seventy years old, a room that no longer works, a roof that has had one repair too many, or a place they only use in the summer that needs somebody local to keep an eye on it. All of that is the same job from where we stand, and it is the reason this company covers construction, property management and landscaping rather than one of the three.
Complete Home Group started in 2005 as Hostetter Homes, building spec houses. It took its current name in 2014. The approach to money came from the founder's father and has not changed since: do not overspend, put the money where it holds its value, and treat the house as if it were your own. On a Cape house, where a bad decision about a roof or a shower pan shows up as a structural bill five years later, that turns out to be a practical position rather than a sentimental one.

Kitchens, bathrooms, basements, flooring and tile, and the repairs that keep a house right between bigger projects. Most Cape houses were built between the 1950s and the 1990s, so opening a wall here usually turns up something — an undersized panel, no insulation, a subfloor that has moved. The honest version of this work says so before the demolition starts.

Exterior and grounds
Roofing, siding, painting, landscaping and pools. Salt air is the whole story out here: it decides which fasteners survive, how a south-west elevation weathers against a sheltered one, and why the exterior window for paint is the shoulder seasons rather than mid-summer. Grounds work runs as a relationship across a season, not a single visit.
Looking after the house
Around a third of the housing on Cape Cod is seasonally occupied, against a few percent statewide. That is the market this part of the business exists for: opening and closing, storm checks, winterising, and someone local holding the keys who knows where the shutoffs are because they installed them.

One company, three jobs
Construction, property management and landscaping under one roof since 2014. The crew that finished the house is the crew that looks after it, which removes the handover where most problems on a second home actually start. How the company got that shape is a longer story, and it starts in 2005.

Centerville sits in the middle of the Town of Barnstable, which makes it about as central a base as the Mid-Cape has. Hyannis is ten minutes east, Osterville and Cotuit ten minutes west, and the Route 6 exits put Yarmouth, Dennis, Mashpee and Sandwich inside a comfortable working radius. That matters on this peninsula more than it would anywhere else: everything arrives over two bridges, and a contractor who is already on your side of them is the one who turns up when a storm takes half a roof off in November.

- What kind of work does Complete Home Group actually take on?

The company was set up in 2014 to cover construction, property management and landscaping under one roof, and that is still the shape of it. If a job falls outside what we do, we will say so on the first call rather than three weeks in.
- Which towns do you work in?
The base is Centerville, so the Barnstable villages are the core of it: Centerville, Hyannis, Osterville, Cotuit, Marstons Mills, West Barnstable and Barnstable Village. Yarmouth, Mashpee, Sandwich and Dennis are close enough to be routine. Give the address on the call and you will get a straight answer about whether it is a job we can look after properly.
- Do you handle the permits?
For work that needs a building permit, the licensed construction supervisor on the job pulls it — not the homeowner. That matters more than it sounds: a homeowner who pulls their own permit in Massachusetts gives up the protection of the state Guaranty Fund. - Can you look after a house we only use part of the year?
Yes. That is a large part of the work on this stretch of the Cape. It covers opening and closing the house, storm checks, freeze protection over the winter, and being the person who already has the key when something fails in February. It works best when the same company that built or remodelled the house is the one looking after it.
